The Sunshine: A Radiant Brooch Inspired by Russian Royalty

Victor A. Syrnev Transforms a Sun Shard into a Historic Tribute

Inspired by the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II's daughter, Princess Anastasia, Victor A. Syrnev has crafted a brooch that encapsulates her sunny disposition. The Sunshine brooch, a part of Syrnev's collection dedicated to the royal family, is a testament to the designer's innovative approach to jewelry design and his deep respect for history.

Victor A. Syrnev's design process for The Sunshine brooch began with the selection of a unique, complexly shaped stone. The stone, a polished Sun Shard, was chosen to reflect the cheerful and radiant personality of Princess Anastasia. The stone, with its inclusions of rutile, was set in an invisible air frame, a feature that sets this piece of jewelry apart from others.

The brooch was not only designed to be a beautiful piece of jewelry but also a historical tribute. Syrnev's deep study of the Russian royal family, their personal diaries, and the images of their time, allowed him to infuse this piece with a sense of history and authenticity. The Sunshine brooch, therefore, is not just a piece of jewelry but a wearable piece of history.

The technical details of the brooch further highlight Syrnev's meticulous craftsmanship. The brooch, measuring 51.4 x 41.0 x 8.6 mm, is made of 18 K Gold and Platinum -950. The original grinding Quartz with inclusions of rutile weighs 88.8 cts, and is complemented by a Diamond-0, 58 cts and Tourmaline - 1, 9 cts. The brooch can be worn in two capacities - as a brooch and as a necklace, adding to its versatility.

The Sunshine brooch was first conceived in 2011, and after a year of active discussion and material search, it was completed in 2013. It was first presented at an exhibition in Bishkek. The design process was not without its challenges. Translating human feelings and qualities into the language of jewelry was a complex task, but Syrnev's innovative approach and dedication to his craft made it possible.

The Sunshine brooch is not just a piece of jewelry; it is a testament to Victor A. Syrnev's innovative approach to jewelry design, his deep respect for history, and his ability to transform a simple stone into a radiant tribute to a historic figure. The brooch, which was awarded the Golden A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award in 2014, is a shining example of Syrnev's prodigious talent and wisdom in the field of jewelry design.
